HOW TO STORE YOUR WIGS

HOW TO STORE YOUR WIGS

1. Preparation
Before storing any wig, ensure it is in top condition to prevent permanent damage:

Clean and Dry: Always wash and completely air-dry your wig before storage. Storing a damp wig can lead to mold, mildew, and unpleasant odors.

Detangle: Use a wide-tooth comb or wig-specific brush to remove all knots, starting from the tips and working upward.

Condition (Optional): For human hair wigs, a light leave-in conditioner can keep fibers smooth during long-term storage.

2. Storage Methods                                                                                                              Select a method based on space and frequency of use:

Wig Stands/Mannequin Heads: Ideal for daily-use wigs. They maintain the cap's shape and preserve the style. Use a light cover (like a silk scarf) to keep off dust.

Silk or Satin Bags: Best for long-term storage or saving space. Silk minimizes friction and static, which helps prevent frizz.

Original Packaging/Boxes: A cost-effective way to stack and organize collections. Fold the wig from ear to ear and stuff the crown with tissue paper to retain shape.

Wig Hangers: A great space-saving hack for closets that allows for air circulation.

3. Ideal Environment
Where you store the wig is as important as how:

Cool and Dry: Avoid bathrooms or laundry rooms where humidity can damage fibers.

Dark: Keep away from direct sunlight, which can fade the color and weaken hair fibers over time.

Protected: Ensure the storage area is out of reach of pets and children to avoid accidental tangling or damage.
